Best paint for concrete block?

I have a concrete block foundation around my garage that I would like to paint a dark brown to match. Bare block now. How do I prep for this or what do I use (best type of paint/ primer if needed, oil, latex? ect.) I think regualar latax paint will peel within a yr on concrete. also I am going to insulate this garage, is there that much difference between R-11 and R-13 for the walls if Im only going to heat it occassionally to work on cars once in awhile? ThanksBest paint for concrete block?
Get primer and paint made for masonry and concrete. All major paint brands make it. Make sure the block is clean and dry before you start painting.

As for the insulation, there isn't a huge difference between R-11 and R-13. If you're talking about using a portable heater to heat the garage, only when you need to work on the car, I'd go with the best price.Best paint for concrete block?
I would use a good masonary paint.
Use a latex block filler or stucco conditioner as a first coat. Your problem is going to be moisture wicking up from the ground. It is going to peel next to the ground no matter what you do, just know that is normal. Top coat with two coats of a high end 100% acrylic latex.
You can get special sealers for concrete and cement at your hard ware store. Prefferably the larger ones. They will tell you if they can be tinted and or what can be applied over top, if needed. I would definatly use the sealers as they are ment to deal with the moisture, that is what they are designed for. Give them a call to save time instead of going down there. If they dont carry it they sujest where you can get it, or a similar product. Hope this helps. Good luck and Good health to you!
