What is the best way to clean an indoor painted concrete floor?

I have painted concrete as well. I'm not sure if it is the best way, but what I do is spray it with windex, and use a rag and scrub it with my foot.

Mops don't seem to hold up well on them, and it seems like you have to scrub a little harder than you do on say linoleum, which is why I use my feet. This is the best way that I have figured out, plus by the time I am all done, it is a great work-out. =)

Glad you asked this question. I look forward to seeing other ideas on here. What is the best way to clean an indoor painted concrete floor?

  • Can you tile over a painted concrete surface?

I plan to tile my outdoor balcony. It currently has chipping paint over a concrete surface. I have heard conflicting information on whether the paint needs to be stripped or not. I would rather not (of course) but am willing to do if its necessary. Please advise!! Thank you!Can you tile over a painted concrete surface?
You can do it without stripping the paint, just consider the material you use and have a professional do it. That will add lots of value for you. I would scrape the loose paint first though. Can you tile over a painted concrete surface?
depends on how bad it is chipping.

try power washing first to see what breaks lose.

make sure the thin-set (mortar) you use is made for outdoor use.

it will bond to the painted concrete but we are talking about the longevity of the install.
As long as it is etched or a rough surface , it will be fine. Just make sure all paint chips are not loose.

Lowes will guide you in the right direction on what materials are needed.

Me? I would use a sand blaster to clean the paint, hose down, dry, paint a sealer over the concrete like an epoxy to make the tiles adhere better.

Hope you live in a warm place all year around, the mortar in the tiles seem to be weakend over time during freezing %26amp; thawing seasons, then you really have a problem. Problems with water and dirt in cracks causes the tiles to get loose and fall off. Good luck!
you will have to use hydraulic concrete to level the floor than you can put tile over it.
Chip off the loose paint and if the paint is shiny at all, you will have to sand it to a rough finish. Go to Lowes and buy a product called Mega Bond along with the latex additive. The Mega bond is used for outdoor use. You will need this for the expansion and contraction during cold and hot weather. Mega bond is the thinset you will need to set the tiles. Make sure you use tiles that are made from Porcelian or natural stone, don't use Ceramic. Hope this helps.
Are you talking about vinyl or ceramic tile? The adhesion to the concrete is what is important, if the paint is coming off it will not hold the tile down because the glue will stick to the paint. If most of the paint is staying put you can just clean off the flaky areas and stick down your tile. Have fun

    Hi,

Call Home Depot or go to MarthaStewart.com

MerrillyWHAT IS THE BEST WAY TO PAINT EXTERIOR CONCRETE?
depends what you are painting and why... a mural will need a primer...

If you go to home depot paint section there is paint that is better for concrete...

Kilz is good for say...basements...it repels mold. Outdoors, you might want to use an oil based primer.
    Hire it done
YOU CAN GET CEMENT PAINT. DEPENDING ON THE SIZE OF THE AREA YOU CAN ROLL IT OR BRUSH IT ON. I HAVE NEVER SPRAYED IT, YOU COULD ASK A PAINT PERSON AT THE PAINT STORE.
    maybe try using concrete paint

How do you get spray paint off of a concrete sidewalk?

model car spray paintHow do you get spray paint off of a concrete sidewalk?
Sandblasting - or - paint thinner or stripper and a stiff, wire brush. How do you get spray paint off of a concrete sidewalk?
If nothing else has worked, you can actually remove just a bit of the concrete with a wire brush, or wire wheel.

This shouldn't hurt the finish and is cheaper and safer than sandblasting.
you can buy a product called graffiti remover at a hardware store
You can try some paint thinner, or some plain gasoline. Let it soak there a couple of minutes, then I've used a pressure washer....and never had a problem with getting it off. Best of luck to you.
Go to WalMart buy Auto Strip it is in a spray can in the Automotive section.... $2.00 ...... spray it on the area and hose off.........that will take anything off .... it strips car paint to the bare metal in about 30 sec.......
They make products to remove graffiti, but you might have to sandblast.
try renting a power (pressure) washer first (gas is most powerful)or use concrete etcher -muratic acid
Idk i guess u'd have to paint over it with paint
    graffitti remover?

soak with paint thinner then use a pressure washer?
Try rubing a raw patato on it, then spraying it off. It works unbelievibly

I want to paint a large map of the United States on a concrete surface at an elementary school.?

Each state would be labeled and colored with a different color.

Any suggestions as to how I should go about thisI want to paint a large map of the United States on a concrete surface at an elementary school.?
Have a transparency made of the map, and then project it on the wall using an overhead projector. You can then make it any size you wish. Trace the map on the wall and color accordingly.I want to paint a large map of the United States on a concrete surface at an elementary school.?
Use a school projector with a map on it. then let it project on the wall. Hopefully it can get it big enough for you.

Should I sand blast paint off of a concrete deck.?

I have tried scraping it with ';Jasco'; and a razor scraper and it just seems to be taking too long. Should I sand blast? How does one work.Should I sand blast paint off of a concrete deck.?
Go with a power washer. You can rent them by the hour. If you sand blast you must be very very careful as this will pit the concrete.Should I sand blast paint off of a concrete deck.?
Sand blasting will work wonders and it's not hard work. You can usually rent the machine. It works by pressure, similar to a pressure washer, except that instead of water it uses a special type and grain of sand that will clean things such as concrete, brick, metal, wood and will also etch glass. It can also be used indoors.
Sandblasting will work but be sure to follow directions and warnings closely. Wear a mask, gloves, long sleeves and don't let any part of you get in the way. Be sure you use a sand that is designed for sandblasting or the nozzle will clog with even the tiniest pebble...i.e. use Silica Sand or a purified sand and screen out any tiny pebbles. Test it on some obsure part of the deck to see results...once you are used to it it works great but you can easily pit the surface if you get too close with the nozzle.
i wouldnt sand blast it, use a pressure washer...
you could but try this rent a power washer from depot 2400 psi or the paint store water can clean concrete back to white or go and rent a blaster for sand use protective goggles and masks amd gloves and long sleeves
Use a power washer and then when dry, paint it.

Sand blasting could result in painting your house too:)
