Smash any bottle of liquor or whatever.......and it will be there to stay :-)!How do you paint a concrete floor in a livingroom?
Not an easy task.. first clean it with acid.. the prime the floor and then paint with a floor paint.. a GOOD paint
Good ideas ahead of me, especially the preparation part.
What ';look'; are you going for? I've seen some paint on concrete that was so well done, I thought it was ceramic tile. After the paint technique, they finished it with a type of varnish...and I've seen unpainted floors that were clear varnish or epoxy or I don't know what product and I thought it too was great.
I recommend you call some places that sell hardwood, laminate and inquire if they finish concrete and go see what they have - I loved it - it was unbelievable!
Most important, is the prep work.
1. Patch any cracks, holes with Thin Patch (a concrete product)
2. Clean thoroughly, then Etch with Muriatic acid. Etching requires good ventilation, rubber gloves and care.
3. Do Not rush the paint, make sure the floor is completely dry.
4. Buy a good quality Epoxy paint, this will adhere best, and will provide excellant durability. Availability of colors is excellent (Valspar makes a good quality epoxy)
5. The paint must be mixed and applied in required amount of time (read the product label)
Epoxy paint is what is used in high traffic areas, such as store floors, arena floors, etc. Cost is approx $50 per gallon, but well worth it. Will outlast other 'concrete' paints by many years. Good Luck
acid wash the floor, patch ant buggered up areas, apply a acrilic primer and then apply two coats of a concrete paint. if you do it right and dont cut corners it looks quite nice.
tom
