I want to paint my concrete pond - is the Drylock brand of paint safe for plants and animals?

I want to paint my concrete pond - is the Drylock brand of paint safe for plants and animals? I am a little concerned because one rep from Home Depot says people use it all the time for ponds and when I called another home depot, another advised me that Drylock is toxic and he advised against it.I want to paint my concrete pond - is the Drylock brand of paint safe for plants and animals?
the best thing you can do is use paint that is designed for the purpose. That paint is identified as SWIMMING POOL PAINT. I will cost you a little more but it is worth it. You will find a good brand at your local marine supply stores or swimming pool supply companies. Buy the paint that is specifically formulated for the purpose. Also, if your pond finish is stained, you should consider preparing the surface by cleaning it with muriatic acid. Years ago, as a summer job, I prepaired and maintained pools for the summer. Those that needed it were cleaned with a mixture of muriatic acid diluted in water. It is beneficial to you because, if you have algae stains, most likely it will cause the paint to peel. Just stop in at the pool supply store and ask them for their reccomendations.. They will be very helpfull.. good luck
